Join the Microfibre Revolution

By Rod See - Microfibre Sales & Training Consultant, Advanced Specialized Equipment

Microfibre technology has revolutionised the cleaning industry and to enable operators to take full advantage
of the benefits, ASE has developed a range of products and a comprehensive training program for supervisors
in the management, training and use of microfibre in the workplace. So what's all the fuss about? Here's a brief overview of the microfibre cleaning system and how you can join the revolution

Whether you are a general contractor, aged and health care services provider, facilities management company or operating in the hospitality sector, the benefits of using microfibre cleaning systems are significant:
• Savings in labour costs by reducing time and increasing productivity
• Reduction in the use of chemicals and water
• Creating a work safe environment for both staff and residents by reducing the exposure to dust and therefore bacteria, viruses and mould
• Reducing exposure to chemicals
• Providing a cleaner environment by reducing up to 70% of chemicals used and subsequent disposal
• Introduces more ergonomically sound work practices that take the heavy work out of cleaning

How does it work?
The Microfibre cleaning system is based on a state of the art fabric which can be used without chemicals, with minimal water and is lint free. The fabric is used to produce cloths, wet and dry flat mops, dusters, scrub mops and gloves with a variety of accessories to facilitate use in any environment.

From the floor to the walls, hard to reach areas, ceilings, intensive care areas—Microfibre products can allow you to reach behind, under, on top of , in between and around. The cloths collect dust, dirt, hair and loose particles, remove stains, clean stainless steel and glass, clean ceramic, can be used dry or damp/wet. Just spray a little water on the surface to remove difficult stains.

After use, the cloths are laundered in hot water of no more than 95 degrees celsius

Colour is the Key
Microfibre products can be used to perform almost all the tasks that traditional cloths have in the past, but a significant advantage is that they can be produced in just about any colour

The colour is then designated to a specific area or purpose.Colour coding has already been widely adopted throughout Australia
• Blue for general areas
• Red for bathrooms
• Green for kitchens and food handling areas
• Yellow for intensive care units
• White for operating theatres

Getting Started
Microfibre is a completely new cleaning system so introducing it should be approached as introducing change into the workplace. This can be a daunting task, but the ITI Microfibre Training School for supervisors covers all the key areas to take the team from the traditional chemical cleaning system to the microfibre program.
• Support: stock control, usage analysis, product knowledge and multi-skilling
• Consulting services: working programes with existing staff, establish manning levels, interface between departments and management reporting
• Training: in-service, operations through to full accreditation
• Business case: preparing programs for senior management and implementation plans
• Auditing and KPI: establish and maintain standards
• Sample and Trial Packs

Set Up
Once staff are trained, introducing Microfibre is easily set up. Traditional cleaning trolleys do not readily cater for the variety of cleaning demands experienced in different facilities, so Microfibre trolleys have been designed with interchangeable parts that can be easily assembled into a configuration to suit your specific needs. Our consultants will assist you in designing a trolley configuration
to suit your needs.
